The beautiful sea resort Chandipur , also known as Chandipur-on-Sea is located in Balasore district of Orissa. Chandipur boasts of an amazing beach. It is also the centre of the Indian Army's Integrated Test Range.

What to See :

The sea beach is unique to say the least. When the sea water recedes it bares the pristine sea bed along with shells , crabs and starfishes. The rocky terrain of the Easter Ghats makes a beautiful backdrop.

This place has a historical side as well. On the confluence to the river Buribalam, an encounter took place between freedom fighter Bagha Jatin and the British forces. You can make a short trip to Jarachua. As depicted in mythology Jarachua is said to be fighting ground where Bheema and Jarasandha wrestled with each other.

Panchalingeshwar is a place near by and is a must see. Its famous for the deity -five lingams of Lord Shiva. This deity is always covered with water as a perennial stream flows over it.

How to Visit Chandipur :

By Train : A number of trains are available from Howrah and Kharagpur station for Balasore. You can board Dhauli Express, Falaknama Express or  Janshatabdi Express from Howrah station for Balasore. Chandipur is just 16KM away from Balasore. From Balasore you can hire a cab or an auto-rickshaw to Chandipur.

Road : Chandipur is well connected by an all-weather road. 16 km from Balasore on N.H. 5, 230 km from Bhubaneswar and 314 km from Kolkata. Regular bus services are available.

Air : Nearest airport is Bhubaneswar (230 km) and Kolkata (314 km).
